Touring our Grand Design Solitude 390RK

Welcome to our new home! If you’ve been keeping up with the videos, you know we have been contemplating selling our home and moving into an RV full-time in order to have more flexibility and opportunity for adventure. During our time at the 2022 Florida RV Supershow in Tampa, we did decide on a floorplan, a 2022 Grand Design Solitude 390 RK-R. After a few quick phone calls, we found a unit on the ground back home, with the amenities (and price tag) we wanted. In a whirlwind, we put down our deposit, traded our sedan for a super duty truck, arranged inspections, and went to meet our new rig. We haven’t named her yet, so suggestions are welcome :) Here are the specs:

Our unique rig includes 3 AC’s (all 15k BTU), a residential refrigerator, electric fireplace, heated and enclosed underbelly with 12v tank heaters, 6-point hydraulic leveling, and many other creature comforts. We plan to do a large solar installation and add a combo washer/dryer unit.

So why did we pick this unit? First, Grand Design as a manufacturer has a reputation for quality and customer service. Second, no floor vents! Third, the floorplan really met our needs. The kitchen and bathroom are large and functional for full-time living, the living space is open and comfortable, and the overall storage is excellent. This floorplan felt “homey” from the first time we walked in. Lastly, we found a unit on the ground and in our budget, with all the bells and whistles we wanted.
